Get Your First Glimpse of the 2019-2020 Kentucky Basketball Team Today

October 6, 2019

Kentucky Basketball will hold its annual “Pro Day” at the Joe Craft Center from 5:30-7:30pm ET today, Sunday, October 6th. It wil be televised live on the SEC Network. Former coaches Seth Greenberg and Jimmy Dykes will be offering their observations and expectations for this year’s UK team. This will be the sixth consecutive season the SEC Network has televised the event, that has been held in the Craft Center and Rupp Arena in previous years. All 30 NBA teams’ scouts and executives will be in attendance to watch this year’s team run shoot and run through their drills. Official measurements will be taken, and the players will be put through typical strength and agility drills before they break into groups and perform shooting and passing drills.

UK’s Pro Day mimics a combine type of format and UK and Calipari were the first ones to introduce the idea of having one designated event for NBA teams to attend and have it televised for the fans. This will also be the fans’ first public look into the team and its 8 new players that have joined the roster for this year. Freshmen Tyrese Maxey, Khalil Whitney, Keion Brooks, Johnny Juzang, Dontaie Allen, and Brennan Canada, join transfer RIley Welch and Bucknell grad-transfer Nate Sestina as new faces to the UK fans this year, so there will be a lot of new faces to get to know. In addition, returnees Ashton Hagans, EJ Montgomery, Immanuel Quickley, Nick Richards, and Zan Payne make up the 13 man roster for UK. The Cats will be ranked in the top 5 preseason and, once again, have Final Four and Championship aspirations for this season. With Big Blue Madness coming in just 5 days, basketball season is right around the corner.
