Abbey Cheek named 2019 SEC Player of the Year; Reed, Schaper and Kowalik given SEC honors

Postseason awards for the 2019 season were announced today, as well as the SEC Tournament schedule. 

Abbey Cheek was named the 2019 SEC Player of the Year. She is the first Kentucky Wildcat to win this award in the 22-year program history. She was also named to First-Team All-Sec, as well as the SEC All-Defensive Team (Third Base). 

Joining her is Kayla Kowalik, who was named SEC Freshman of the Year, along with being a member of the 2019 SEC All-Freshman Team. Seniors Katie Reed and Jenny Schaper join Abbey Cheek in the honors list. Reed was named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Second Team All-SEC, and SEC All-Defensive Team (Short Stop). Jenny Schaper was named to First Team All-SEC and the SEC All-Defensive Team (Catcher).
