Kentucky looked to clinch the series over Florida but came up short as Florida clinched the series in their rubber match today in Gainesville.

A two-run homer by Nelson Maldonado gave Florida an early 2-0 lead. Dlaton Reed hit a two-out, two-run home run to tie the game at 2 for Kentucky. Much like game one, every run would be answered by the other team in this one. Florida pulled out to a 6-2 lead before the Cats added two runs of their own. Another two-run homer by the Gators extended the lead to 8-4. Kentucky would then add four runs of their own to tie things up at 8. The offense for Kentucky would stop there however. Florida added four late runs and secured the series victory, 12-8.

Final: Florida 12  Kentucky 8

Kentucky will take a break this week and return to action this Friday night to host Arkansas at 6:30 p.m. ET.
