4-star Quarterback Beau Allen Commits to Kentucky

May 6, 2019

The University of Kentucky football coaching staff keeps the dice rolling. This time, Kentucky reels in four-star in-state quarterback Beau Allen. The 6-2, 200-pound pocket passer quarterback has been Kentucky’s top quarterback target for a long time. Allen hails from Lexington so it is easy for the four-star recruit to visit UK, which he has visited numerous times over the last couple of years. John Young and Beau Allen have formed a close friendship and will carry that friendship to Kroger Field. Both four-star recruits are also actively recruiting others to join them at UK.

Allen chose Kentucky over Georgia, West Virginia, Washington State, Louisville and others. In his Junior season, Allen finished the year completing 66% of his passes, throwing for 3,729 yards, 42 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions. He threw for 311 yards per game, which led the state. Allen also threw for an average of 10-yards per completion.

On tape, Allen shows he is comfortable in the pocket and isn’t afraid to take a hit while throwing the football. His arm isn’t the strongest, but he has great accuracy. He is superb at putting the ball only where the receiver can get it. Although Allen rushed for 747 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, he is a pocket passer, but he does show good mobility in the pocket.

Over the course of this process of building the 2020 class, the biggest piece to that puzzle was indeed Allen. He is a tremendous talent that other recruits want to be around. He is a natural pocket passer and will look to have a fantastic career in blue and white.
