Kentucky traveled to Louisville to take on their in-state rival in the Battle of the Bluegrass Wednesday night at Ulmer Stadium. The Cards defeated the Cats by a final score of 8-7 in a hard fought game on both sides. Kentucky falls to 26-18.

Katie Reed got things going with a two run single with bases loaded to give the Cats and early lead, (Kentucky 2, Louisville 0). Lousiville took advantage of miscues from the Cats and brought the score back to even, (Kentucky 2, Louisville 2). Lauren Johnson gave the Cats the advantage again by scoring on a wild pitch, (Kentucky 3, Louisville 2). The Cards would not go away and scored two more runs to take their first lead of the game, (Louisville 4, Kentucky 3). After a double by Johnson to score a run, Louisville pulled away by scoring three runs in the bottom of the third to take a commanding lead, (Louisville 7, Kentucky 4). Alex Martens brought the Cats back within two with a solo home run in the fourth, (Louisville 7, Kentucky 5). The bats would go quiet until the seventh when The Cats added two late runs to tie the game at 7. After putting two runners on in the bottom of the seventh, the Cards brought home the winning run on a walk-off single to center field to secure the Battle of the Bluegrass.
