Kentucky hosted Ole Miss tonight at John Cropp Stadium. The Cats looked to continue their winning streak after taking down in-state foe Eastern Kentucky in their mid-week game. Kentucky used a season-high 17 hits to secure the win over the Rebels in the first game of the three game weekend series.

Kentucky opened the scoring with an RBI double by Alex Martens, (UK 1, Ole Miss 0). An RBI double by Katie Reed, an RBI single by Jenny Schaper and a bomb by Alex Martens helped to extend the Kentucky lead early, (UK 6, Ole Miss 0). The Cats would continue to pile on in this one and took a 10-0 lead on an Abbey Cheek solo home run. The Rebels would answer with a solo shot of their own to finally get on the board, (UK 10, Ole Miss 1). Ole miss would score three more to cut into the lead but ultimately it was too much for them to overcome and the Cats would get the victory.

Final #22 Kentucky 11, #17 Ole Miss 4

Kentucky looks to clinch the series tomorrow in game 2 at 2 p.m. ET.
