Still Talkin': Jim Green Interview

March 15, 2019

We are back with the King and Queen of UK Sports Art Still and his little sister Valerie. In this episode, the STILL Talkin' crew host University of Kentucky track and field legend Jim Green, the first Big Blue African-American student-athlete to graduate from UK and first in the SEC to win NCAA and SEC Championships.  This thought-provoking conversation provides a unique insight to the plight, challenges and experiences of the African American student-athlete at UK, starting in the 1960s at the height of the Civil Rights Movement in the USA.  Jim also discusses the current status of African American athletes at UK and UK’s recent measures in honoring African American athletes, with the newly erected football statue of Greg Page, Nate Northington, Wilbur Hackett, and Houston Hogg in 2016 and naming the opening home indoor track and field meet the Jim Green Invitational this year.  Overall a very powerful interview that you will want to hear. Go Big Blue!!
