Kentucky explodes in 13-0 win over Syracuse

The No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats exploded in their 13 run game over Syracuse Wednesday afternoon at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington. Kentucky won their eighth season-high game in a row, beating Syracuse 13-0. The Wildcats scored five runs in two separate innings, the first and third.

Abbey Cheek got the Cats on the board first with a single in the first inning that scored Jenny Schafer. The Cats added two more runs when Katie Reed knocked a two-RBI double. Grace Balkan and Bailey Vick then each drew walks with the bases loaded to give the Cats a 5-0 advantage (Kentucky 5, Syracuse 0).

Cheek led off the second with a single and cane around to score on a Mallory Peyton RBI double. The Cats would add another run when Peyton scored on a throwing error by Syracuse (Kentucky 7, Syracuse 0).

Kentucky would add five more runs in the third behind doubles from Schaper, Lauren Johnson, and Kayla Kowalik. Cheek brought home two runners on her third hit of the night. Peyton would then bring Cheek home on a sacrifice fly to left field. Katie Reed would cap the inning off with a home run. (Kentucky 12, Syracuse 0).

Kentucky would add one more run to win in blow-out fashion, 13-0.
