Autumn Humes shines in shut-out game against Gamecocks

Kentucky opened up their SEC play against South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Autumn Humes shined in Friday’s game as she pitched complete game, shut-out in Kentucky’s 5-0 over the Gamecocks. Humes went the distance allowing only two Gamecock hits, walking only two batters and striking out five.

Alex Martens tripled before Mallory scored her on an infield single. (Kentucky 1, South Carolina 0). Lauren Johnson led the fifth off with a home run to center, Katie Reed walked and created havoc on the basepath stealing second, taking third and scoring on a throwing error by South Carolina. (Kentucky 3, South Carolina 0). Kayla Kowalik singled and Katie Reed reached on an error, Abbey Cheek walked to load the bases, and two runs scored on an Alex Martens single to right center. (Kentucky 5, South Carolina 0).
