SEC Conference Schedule - 12/29 - 12/31 Start

September 28, 2020

On Friday, the SEC announced the start dates for the SEC slate of men’s and women’s basketball.  Men’s basketball will start on December 29th and 30th, while the women will get started on December 31st.  With all sport’s schedules in flux so far during 2020, the official announcement brings some sense of normalcy to the basketball schedule.

On the men’s side, each SEC team will have an 18-game schedule over the course of 20 possible dates, with two open dates.  For the ladies, there will be a 16-game schedule over the course of 18 possible dates, also with two open dates.  With the men, teams not participating in the Big-12 / SEC challenge will have open dates during that event in late January.

With practice beginning on October 14th and teams eligible to play games starting on November 25th, the young Wildcats will have just over a month of games to start gelling for the start of conference play.  With remaining uncertainty on the non-conference schedule, the possibility of positive COVID tests, and any further conference-wide “spikes” of COVID-19 cases, there is certainly still a chance for further changes.  At least with the announcement, the team can start to work on preparation with an eye toward what should be a very competitive SEC season.
