SEC still planning on playing football in 2020 despite Big Ten, PAC-12 canceling season

Tuesday, the Big Ten and PAC-12 officially announced that they have canceled all fall sports, including Football, with the hope of playing in the fall.

With this decision, two power-five conferences have said no to a fall football season in 2020.

With the MAC, Moutain West and a handful of independent programs such as UCONN and UMASS also canceling their seasons, 53 out of the 130 FBS programs will not play Football this fall.

Despite this, the SEC is still planning to go through with the 2020 season this fall. Monday, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum reported the conference still plans to play this fall and even plans on releasing a schedule soon.

Steven Godfrey of Banner Society followed that up by reporting Tuesday that the SEC is hoping the BIG 12 will “stay committed” to playing this fall in order to keep the season alive. If not, there’s a chance there won’t be Football down south this fall.

Losing the 2020 season would be a crushing blow for a Kentucky team with arguably their best roster on paper in program history and an SEC East more vulnerable than ever.
