Kentucky assistant coach Steven Clinkscale extended an offer to West Bloomfield (Mich.) freshman athlete Donovan Edwards yesterday. Edwards had a big day yesterday, as he also received offers from Syracuse and Missouri. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete already held an offer from in-state school Michigan.
Edwards talks about his offer from Kentucky and breaks down his recruitment.
“I was surprised by the Kentucky offer. I didn’t know Coach Clinkscale from Kentucky would offer me this early in the process, but I am blessed to receive an offer from Kentucky.”
He said at this time he doesn’t know a whole lot about Kentucky.
“I do know Kentucky has won two conference championships but other than that, I don’t know much about them.”
West Bloomfield athlete broke down his visit plans for this summer.
“I don’t have any set visits planned, but I will try to visit Kentucky as soon as I can.”
Edwards mentions he has some early favorites in his recruitment.
“So far my favorites are Michigan, Missouri, and Kentucky in no particular order.”
He went in-depth why those three are standing out in his recruitment.
Missouri – I hear a lot from our offensive tackle commit Javon Foster and how they treat each other like family.
Kentucky – I’ve always liked their school just in general.
Michigan – Because of they treat each other like a real family, the environment there is a great place to be.
Edwards said he will make his college decision in the fall before his senior year or wait until signing day of his senior year. There is a long way to go in his recruitment, but this UK staff has a knack for finding kids early in the process. Edwards’ recruitment will be one to watch over the next several years.
