West Bloomfield (Mich.) freshman athlete, Donovan Edwards visited Kentucky a few days ago. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Edwards came to Lexington with an offer from Kentucky already in hand as well as one from in-state school Michigan.
Edwards spoke to Big Blue Banter about his visit to Kentucky.
“The visit was amazing. We toured the campus and facilities. The weight room is nice and we got a chance to speak with Coach (Mark) Stoops.”
He mentioned one thing in particular that surprised him during his visit.
“I didn’t know the University of Kentucky campus would be so nice.”
Edwards said his conversation with Coach Stoops was a short one because Coach had a meeting to attend to and said the next time he visited they would talk more.
The West Bloomfield standout is already planning a return visit to Lexington.
“I’ll probably be back at UK around June 9th,” said Edwards.
June 9th is Kentucky’s first major camp, the Saturday Night Prime Time Camp, which will have loads of talent either camping or be visiting Kentucky. The following night is the Sunday Night Lights Camp. Since the new recruiting schedule prohibits July camps, those two camps are crucial for Kentucky as most of the top targets in multiple classes will be in town.
Edwards top schools have changed since we last talked to him, and Missouri is no longer one of his top schools.
“My favorites right now are Michigan, Purdue, and Kentucky said,” Edwards.
The freshman prospect is in no hurry on making his college decision, but it’s a good sign for Kentucky to have him on campus twice over the course of a few weeks.
