Paintsville (KY) High School senior offensive or defensive lineman Tyler Couch announced via Twitter he would sign his preferred walk-on offer to Kentucky. Couch’s father Joey Couch played at Kentucky during 1988-91 years. Joey was one of the best that ever wore the blue and white. But, only one person, I know personally that knew Joey the best was KSR’s, Freddie Maggard. I normally wouldn’t link another site article, but Freddie’s article is worth the read. More on Joey Couch:

The younger Couch talked to Big Blue Banter on why he decided to follow his father’s footsteps when he arrives at Kentucky.

“I chose Kentucky because it’s always been my dream to play for the Kentucky Wildcats. It feels amazing to be able to have the chance to go to the same school as my dad. He always wanted me to go to Kentucky, so it’s really special. I wish I could play my father number at Kentucky (48) but as a lineman, I am going to try to get number 55.”

Couch even discussed his personal goals he wants to achieve in Lexington.

“Football-wise I want to gain about 40 pounds and after that earn a scholarship and last but not least, I want to contribute to the team in any way I can.”

The senior lineman said Coach Stoops and staff were excited to learn the news of him coming to Kentucky.

“They were really excited when I told them, that I decided to come to Kentucky.”

Couch also has a message for the Big Blue Nation fan base.

“Thank you for the support that has been shown to me and my family and I can’t wait to be a Kentucky Wildcat. I know my dad will be having a huge smile on his face looking down at me.”
