Coach (Michael) Smith is making his rounds around the Bayou State. He recently extended an offer to junior, University Lab (La.), offensive-tackle Dylan Rathcke. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Rathcke holds an offer from Louisville and several smaller schools but is getting some SEC interest from Tennessee, in-state school LSU, Mississippi, and Oklahoma has shown interest in him from the Big XII.

Rathcke talks about his first SEC offer coming from Kentucky.

“Kentucky offer is one I have been hoping to get. I’ve known Coach Smith since he was Arkansas.”

The University Lab, junior standout mentions more on what he knows about Kentucky.

“I didn’t really start following Kentucky much until Coach Smith went there. I know they are in the SEC and I know how tough that conference is. Everyone I have talked to have told me the campus is nice.”

Rathcke said he will have to get with his parents about visits for this summer, but knows a couple visits for sure.

“I know I’ll be visiting Texas, Mississippi, Texas A&M and Kentucky this summer,” said Rathcke.

He talks about one school he grew up as a fan of and if they are his favorite early on.

“I’ve always been an LSU fan but as I’ve got more involved in the recruiting process, I’m seeing great things about new schools.”

I asked him does that mean LSU is his dream school.

“I really don’t have a dream school. I’m more concerned about how the program can help me after football. Either at the next level or at a career,” said Rathcke.

The junior offensive tackle said he wants to major in some form of engineering but he is also thinking about Sports Medicine/Kinesiology.

He breaks down when he could make his commitment.

“It would just depend on my visits. If I feel it’s right then that’s all I need. I don’t believe in changing commitments,” said Rathcke.

Rathcke said if his visit to Kentucky went really well and felt it was right he could commit to Kentucky during his visit.
