A little over a week ago, several Amite (La.) High School players were on campus for an unofficial visit. Three-star wide receiver Kyle Maxwell and unranked quarterback Amani Gilmore left Lexington with a scholarship offer. However, one of their teammates is five-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound junior is being heavily recruited by some of the elite programs including Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, etc… Sopsher talked to Big Blue Banter if he has heard from Kentucky and if he would listen to the Kentucky staff.
“I haven’t heard from Kentucky at this time, but I would listen to them if they do talk to me.”
Amite (La.) standout also said he hasn’t yet talked to his teammates about the Kentucky visit.
“I haven’t had a chance to speak with them yet, but I plan on it. I want to know what it was like there.”
Maxwell told B3 that he was planning on returning to Lexington this summer with new UK wide receiver coach (Michael) Smith handling his recruitment. With Coach Smith recruiting the state of Louisiana hard if its just a matter of time before Sopsher hears from Kentucky and if Smith and LeBlanc (also a Louisiana native) take a visit down to Amite (La.) for a spring practice.
