UK Baseball and Head Coach Nick Mingione picked up another big win on the recruiting trail.  Class of 2018 Austin Schultz has picked the SEC and UK.  Schultz goes to high school in Nebraska and was awarded the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year in the state.

The 5’10” 185 Schultz is a middle infielder and outfielder for Norris High.  Schultz hit .466 with 5 home runs in 29 games last season.  More impressively he had 25 stolen bases to go with the strong average.  He was also a first team all-state selection.  He also had a video game-esque .560 and .534 on base percentage as a sophomore and junior.

“Austin Schultz is a tremendous baseball player,” said Kyle McCright, head coach at Elkhorn High. “He has a nice, smooth swing and a very strong arm, and he has game-changing speed.”

Schultz attended the Rocky Mountain Showcase in May and received a grade of 9.5 out of 10 at the event.  Below is the scouting report of how Schultz was graded.

2017 Rocky Mountain Showcase
